Day 3  :  Shira Cave Camp to Barranco Camp Trekking to summit Mt Kilimanjaro

The third day introduces us to the captivating scenery of high moorlands. The landscape undergoes a transformation, and we find ourselves traversing the southwest side of Kilimanjaro. Along the way, we pass beneath the imposing Lava Tower and the final section of the Western Breach, which serves as a reminder of the mountain's formidable nature. As we trek at considerable altitudes, reaching up to 4,600 meters (15,100 feet) but abiding by the mountaineering principle of 'walk high, sleep low,' we support our bodies in acclimatization, reducing the risk of altitude sickness. The Barranco Camp, at 3,900 meters (12,960 feet), awaits us at the end of the day. Here, we are surrounded by towering cliffs and the raw beauty of the mountain, making it a memorable stop on our journey.

Day 4  :  Trekking From Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Day four greets us with a descent into the Great Barranco, a vast ravine that captivates with its grandeur. The adventure continues as we ascend the infamous Breakfast Wall, a steep trek over rocks that demands endurance. Although not technically challenging, this section is long and tiresome, testing our determination and resolve. As we progress, we pass beneath the majestic Heim and Kersten glaciers, further immersing ourselves in the ethereal world of Kilimanjaro. Our destination for the day is the Karanga Valley, situated at 4,200 meters (13,780 feet). Here, we find respite from the day's challenges, surrounded by stunning vistas and the camaraderie of our fellow trekkers.

Day 5  :  Continue From Karanga Camp Trekking to Barafu Camp

On this day, we embark on a short but arid trek through a desolate landscape formed by scree. The terrain presents a unique setting that contrasts with the lushness of the previous days. Our trek leads us towards Barafu Camp, located at an altitude of 4,600 meters (15,100 feet). This campsite is a crucial stop before our final push to the summit. At Barafu Camp, we rest and prepare ourselves mentally and physically for the challenging ascent ahead. The anticipation of the summit attempt fills the air, and the camaraderie among trekkers grows stronger, serving as a powerful motivator to achieve our common goal.

Day 6  :  From Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (Summit Day) to Mweka Camp

Our expedition's most momentous day arrives. We ascend at midnight to avoid the scorching sun, guided by headlamps and starlit skies. The steep trail takes 5 to 6 hours, but the altitude gain is significant. Approaching Stella Point at 5,750 meters, dawn's first light paints a breathtaking sky. Mawenzi Peak's ice cliffs and awe-inspiring views inspire us. After a grueling trek, we reach Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters, a moment of indescribable triumph. Joy permeates the air as we celebrate. Descending to Barafu Camp for breakfast and rest, we savor our achievement. Later, we head to Mweka Camp at 3,100 meters for a well-deserved and gratifying night's sleep.

Day 7  :  Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate Final Days of Trekking to Kilimanjaro

The final day of our epic journey has arrived. We embark on a gentle descent through the lush rainforest, transitioning from the high-altitude terrain to the lower foothills of Kilimanjaro. The Mweka Gate, situated at 1,640 meters (5,380 feet), marks the end of our trek. Here, we complete the necessary park formalities, and a sense of accomplishment washes over us as we receive our certificates of ascent from the Kilimanjaro National Park Authority. Our vehicles await us, ready to take us back to Arusha, where a well-earned shower and perhaps a cold beer or two await, offering the perfect way to conclude this extraordinary adventure.
